Invisalign offers a way to straighten teeth without wearing braces or brackets. While most patients seek to straighten teeth for cosmetic reasons, straight teeth also help maintain a healthy smile. When gaps are between teeth, food often gets stuck in them, causing decay to develop. Misaligned teeth also make it difficult to clean between teeth.
Invisalign: Procedure Overview
Invisalign uses a series of clear retainers. Each retainer is designed to slightly shift the teeth, closer and closer into the ideal position. Invisalign recommends that patients wear the retainers for 22 hours a day to achieve the quickest results. Prior to receiving your first set of retainers, a 3D intra oral scan is taken and uploaded to Invisalign. Your dentist, at Brooklyn Dental Studio, will make a treatment plan which they can review with you digitally. Using Invisalign software, a series of trays will be custom fabricated to align your teeth.
The Invisalign procedure requires patients to return approximately every month to check movement and insure progress is as planned. Once the procedure is complete, patient will be required to wear retainers at night to maintain alignment.
