A crown is a tooth-shaped “cap” that fits over the remaining natural tooth structure and protects the tooth. While crowns may be all metal, those we place are usually all ceramic or, in some instances, porcelain fused to metal. Crowns placed at Brooklyn Dental Studio are matched exactly to your smiles shape and color.
Dental implants are an ideal solution to replace one or more missing teeth. An implant is comprised of multiple components:
- The implant itself is placed into the jaw bone and replaces the root of the missing tooth. As bone fuses around to the implant, the implant acts as an anchor that will hold and support the visible portion of the tooth above the gum line.
- The abutment is attached to the implant via a small screw. The abutment will hold the crown that will be placed onto the tooth
- The implant crown is attached to the abutment. This crown becomes a natural part of your smile, blending in color and shape to the surrounding teeth.
Veneers are ceramic facings that are bonded to front teeth to reshape teeth, close gaps, cover stains, or treat chipped or broken teeth. To bond a veneer to the front of a tooth, the tooth must first be prepared very conservatively, taking away just millimeters of tooth structure, which will be replaced by the veneer. Veneers are made of durable ceramic material, and are custom matched to the color of your existing smile.
Invisalign offers a way to straighten teeth without wearing braces or brackets. While most patients seek to straighten teeth for cosmetic reasons, straight teeth also help maintain a healthy smile. When gaps are between teeth, food often gets stuck in them, causing decay to develop. Misaligned teeth also make it difficult to clean between teeth.
